Credit Courses with an Internship

Students with an advanced level of English proficiency who are enrolled in the Semester at SDSU program may expand their business knowledge with American students by enrolling in SDSU College of Business courses. The fifth largest undergraduate business school in the U.S., the College was recently named by Success magazine as one of the "25 Best Business Schools for Entrepreneurs in America." Students can select from courses in accounting, finance, information and decision systems, management, and marketing. Other business-related courses are available. Consult with the Semester at SDSU advisor regarding the options.

Program Highlights

  • Students receive an official certificate and university credit.
  • Participants attend classes with American students.
  • Participants choose four SDSU business courses per semester or three business courses plus an internship.
  • Participants may complete an internship, which allows them to work on an individual or group consulting assignment for one or more small to medium-sized business(es) in San Diego.

Please note that the ALI cannot guarantee participation in specific university courses. Students enroll in classes on a space-available basis.

Students successfully completing the Semester at SDSU program for two consecutive semesters are eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT). OPT allows international students to work in paid or unpaid positions in the U.S. for up to one year. The ALI immigration advisor will assist you through the process.

OPT is only available to students who have taken full course loads of SDSU classes for two semesters, not those who combined intensive English courses in their program. SDSU courses should be related to the student's major.

Semester at SDSU students may also earn certificates in Business, and Hospitality and Tourism Management.
